Videos and articles on meditation, aka mindfulness, are popping up everywhere. The verdict is in, but there is still resistance. People are resistant to what they don’t understand. We are all guilty of this from time to time.
But it seems that those who can benefit from meditation the most, are the ones that are the most resistant. I have found that over the years, my teachings and methods of delivery have changed dramatically. Words, categories and cultural references have had to be translated into an arena that is more palatable and less limiting.
From Buddhism to Zen to Meditation to Mindfulness Techniques – it’s all the same. Cut out the fluff and focus on the mechanism of importance.
I find when working with others that are (at least) vaguely interested in meditation, that it’s only a matter of language. Switching between scientific, spiritual or practical explanations is key in making this kind of information more accessible.
Here is video by Dr. Mike Evans that does a very good job of making meditation more accessible. He’s a local Torontonian.
